Jobs just seem to disappear from the print queus without printing, where did they go?

This information applies primairly to 10.3.6 and earlier servers. The issue appears to be caused by improper clean-up of the /var/spool/PrintService/Your_Print_Queue directory. To resolve:

  • Using Server Admin, stop printing services.</li>
  • Open Terminal and log in as root.</li>
  • Delete any files found under the impacted printer's print queue in /var/spool/PrintService/Your_Queue_Name . Do NOT delete the /var/spool/PrintService/Your_Queue_Name/lock directory.
  • Using Server Admin, restart printing services.

This information is relevant to 10.3.8 server also.
